Funeral services for Frank Robert Lindsey, age 81 of Tyler, Texas will be 10amTuesday, January 17th at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at 4pm at Rose Lawn Memorial Park in Tyler. Visitation will be Monday, January 16th from 5:30 to 7:00pm at Stringer and Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with Rosary immediately following. Officiating will be Father Ron Foshage and Deacon David Luther of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Jasper and Deacon Bill Necessary of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler. Pallbearers will be Dr. Lee Popejoy, Ralph Gills, David "Bud" Woodell, Kerry Lacy, Orlan "Buck" Foshee, Ray Davis, Joe Cutcliff and Russ Miesch. Frank passed away Friday, January 13th at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. A native of Jasper, he had lived in Tyler since 2007 and was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Tyler. Frank was born in Jasper on August 18, 1930 to Mr. & Mrs. Frank Robert Lindsey, Sr. He was raised in Jasper, graduating from Jasper High School in 1947. He then attended and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1951. He was also a graduate of LSU's School of Banking of the South. Frank was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, serving exclusively in the European theater and a lifelong member of the American Legion. In 1960, Frank married the former Jean Himmel of Port Arthur, Texas and returned to Jasper. He and Jean had three children. He remained there until 2007 relocating to Tyler. Frank was a retired bank executive with a career spanning many years. He was a long-time member of the Jasper Noon Lions Club and served on the Jasper Lions Rodeo Committee. Frank was actively involved in local and regional politics, serving as City Councilman and then Mayor of Jasper for many years. He was also very active in the founding of the Sam Rayburn Municipal Power Agency. He was heavily involved in the Deep East Texas Council of Governments, serving on the Executive Board, earning both the President's Award and the Ralph W. Steen "East Texan of the Year" Award. In later years, he devoted himself primarily to his family and friends. To those who knew and loved him, he was always happy to be with his children and grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jean Lindsey. He is survived by their three children: sons, Bill Lindsey and wife Tricia of Houston and Brad Lindsey and wife Ashley of San Antonio and daughter Brenda Ayer and husband Max of Athens, Texas, four grandchildren, Jeremy Ayer of Lubbock, Shalynn Lindsey of Orange, Kristina Lindsey of Houston, Maddy Lindsey of San Antonio and an "Honorary Brother", David A.
