A small sketch of the life of Carl Christian Jorgensen born 12 May 1829 in Copenhagen, Demark. When he was 18 years of age, he volunteered early joined the service of his country and was taken into war for 2 years 1847 and 1848 on the 12th of April 1855, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his native land. For which he was put through a great deal of criticism by his own people for they couldn't understand the true gospel as he could. He was called and fulfilled a mission while he was in his native land for the LDS church. Upon returning home, he was very unhappy to find the family so bitter towards him and would not listen to anything he had to say to them. So after 8 years, he decided to leave his loved ones and journey to Utah for the gospel's sake. He bid farewell to his mother and his wife and 6 small children and began his journey. He came to Draper, Utah on the 29 of August 1863 in John H. Murdocks Company. In 1864, he came to Logan, Cache County where he met with the Petersen family. He married Charlotte Amelia Petersen in November 1864. They became the parents of 9 children, 7 boys and 2 girls.
Brother Jorgensen was ordained a High Priest on the 29th of December 1878. He was one of the Hyde Park pioneers. He made this place his home, all the rest of his life. He was always a kind and loving father. He passed away on the 24 of February 1912 at the age of 82 years and 9 months. Two of the children preceded him in death: Ephraim born 09 May 1969—died 25 August 1891; Caroline born 10 December 1876—died 01 January 1897.
He had baptized Amelia Petersen in Denmark while on his mission. He never saw her again until he came to this country.
