Remarks: A 77 year old American man from Homewood, Illinois, worked at the Cooper Institute in New York City then employed by the Merrill Brothers and in the John Roch Shipyard in New York City. He moved to the Isthmus of Panama on November 9, 1904 and rose to General Foreman in the Dry Dock and Marine Shops in the Atlantic Division. After retirement he remained in Panama. He died on June 14, 1935, was cremated and buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.

1. Mr. Steiner was born 26 May 1859 in Homewood, Cook County, Illinois and died 14 June 1935 in Colon Hospital, Colon, Panama.
2. George William Steiner born in Homewood, Cook,County, Illinois to Johann Heinrich Steiner 1835-1914 and Catharine Steiner 1827-1883. Married Cherrie Franklin 1861-? on 28th April 1880 in Brooklyn, New York. His children, George Henry Steiner 1881-1942, William Sidney Steiner 1884-1935, Jenni Steiner 1885-1963, Mabel Steiner 1893. Mr Steiner traveled between the States and the Panama Canal as an Engineering Consultant working on the Panama Canal.
