"Chas. Countryman, Old Resident of City, Succumbs
Charles Countryman, born 65 years ago in Marion, O., died Sunday at his home on Bridgman avenue, after a n illness of some duration. He had been a resident of Benton Harbor 40 years.
A widow and four children, survive, as follows: Mrs. Myrtle Farrar, Bangor; Leo, Benton Harbor; Mrs. Clarissa Toffman, Los Angeles; Henry, Paw Paw. Other relatives surviving being three brothers, Dan, of Wells, Mich.; Joseph, of Louisville, Ky.; Henry of Grand Rapids; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Austin, of Bangor.
Deceased was also well known in Van Buren county, being a former resident of Paw Paw.
The funeral is announced for 9:30? a.m. Tuesday at Slaughter chapel Rev. H.G. Southern officiating. Burial will be in Austin cemetery, near Paw Paw."

"Counterman Rites Are Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Charles Counterman were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the Slaughter chapel and were conducted by Rev. H.G. Southern. Mrs. Southern and daughter, Geraldine, sang two solos, one of which was "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning." Burial was in the Austin cemetery, near Paw Paw."
