Jimmie "The Cat" Bass Sr., 66, of Liberty, died May 18, 2007, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty and continues Monday from 11 a.m. until services there at 1 p.m. The Rev. Marvin Howard will officiate. Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery near Liberty.

Mr. Bass was born Oct. 26, 1940, in the Busy Corner community of Amite County to Tom Albert Bass and Elsie Jackson Bass.

He was a plumber.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janelle Lizette Hebert Bass; one grandchild, Amanda Marie Nevels; one brother, Tommy Ray Bass; one sister, Olivia "Isum" Tarver; and one brother-in-law, Jim Tarver.

Survivors include three children, Traci Dykes and husband Andy of Smithdale, Bodi Bass and wife Molly of Smithdale and Candy Newton and husband Robbie of Liberty; six grandchildren, Tabby Nevels, Tommy and Nikki Bass, Brittany and Chelbie Newton and Kathryn Dykes; two brothers, Hansel Bass and wife Angie of Gloster and Roger Bass and wife Delacy of Liberty; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bass of Liberty and Mable Bass Clinton of Gloster; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bodi and Tommy Bass, Andy Dykes, Roger, Danny and Dusty Sullivan, Robbie Newton and John Massey Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to Community Hospices of America and Gideons International.
