Ruth Fay Carter Fore, 92, of Breckenridge, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at a local care center. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Robinson Cemetery in Robinson. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge.
She was born in Addicks, Harris Co., Texas, to the late Edwin Carl Carter and Lydia Frese Carter. Ruth was the granddaughter of William Henry and Mina Frese, early settlers of the Robinson/Hewitt area. She was reared in South and Central Texas, graduating from Rio Grande City High School. She attended College of Industrial Arts (CIA) now known as Texas Woman's University as an art major. Ruth married O.A. Fore, District Court Reporter for Stephens and Young Counties for many years, and they moved to Breckenridge in 1939. Mrs. Fore was a homemaker and was a former member of the Breckenridge Woman's Club and Stephens County Hospital Auxiliary. She was baptized as a young girl in the Rio Grande River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, on March 22, 1967; an infant granddaughter, Carla Fore; grandson, Bradley Fore; and her sister, Geraldine Carter.
She is survived by her sons, George Fore and wife, Janet, of Sierra Blanca, Texas, and Carter Fore and wife, Julie, of Breckenridge; daughter-in-law, Sharon Fore, of Breckenridge; grandchildren, Amy Fore Brown, of Waco, Melanie Mays and husband, Patrick, of Summerville, S.C., Melinda Fore, of San Francisco, Calif., Gregory Fore and wife, Amy, of Andrews, Texas, Colby Ferland and Bailey Fore, both of El Paso; grandson-in-law, Danny Brown, of Waco; and seven great-grandchildren.
