Dr. Yeargin came from North Carolina with his parents & settled on Sugar Creek in Elbridge. He was raised on a farm and did engage in farming during the summer months & attended school during the winter. He soon became a teacher in Edgar Co. Then he studied medicine & became a physician which he continued. He was also Postmaster for a number of years in Elbridge and he was school treasurer for twenty-five years. He married Catherine Parker in 1845 with whom he had 12 children. One son-James died June 30, 1864 at Big Shanty, near Atlanta Ga in the War Between the States.
