Paul was a gifted song writer. A few of the songs Paul Gilley wrote are. "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes." recorded by Ray Price and Perry Como. Paul, was the only child of Clell and Nora Phipps Gilley. He drowned in a few feet of water in a pond on his parents farm, while swimming with some friends
