Elisha was the son of James & Lovina (Allen) Clark and husband of Martha Spooner.
His obituary:

CLARK—At the residence of his son, near Mendota, Wednesday morning, Dec. 14, Elisha Allen Clark, aged 90 years. Deceased was born Nov. 16, at Halifax, Windham County, Vermont, where he lived with his parents until 1826, when he walked across the mountains to Madison County, N.Y. On Jan. 22, 1828, he was married to Martha Spooner, daughter of Deacon Spooner. He was engaged in farming and in the hotel business until 1857, when he came west and located in Troy Grove, Ill., which has been his home since then. In earlier years he held the office of justice, being then known as "Squire Clark," and in later years as "Father Clark," to both old and young. He has been a member of the Methodist Church for many years. Being a man of quiet disposition and few words, he was remarkable in his sunny contentment and cheerful disposition, even down to the last few hours of his ripe old age. Of the seven children given to the couple, six are left to mourn their loss: Mrs. Rocelia Fennel and Mrs. Ella Smith of Dakota [Territory]; Mrs. Mary Rankin of Wisconsin; Mrs. Lydia Brown and Mrs. Maggie Hawthorne of Des Moines, Iowa; Ross Clark of Mendota. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in this city yesterday, and many were those who honored an old fellow-citizen and friend, before all that was earthly was consecrated to the grave [at Restland Cemetery in Mendota].
