Civil War Veteran.
Justice resided in Plato, IL at the time of his enlistment on August 17, 1861 as a Private. On September 23, 1861 he mustered into "Smith's" Co. IL Independent Cavalry and he was discharged for disability on July 18, 1862. According to published sources he served in Company K; however, his tombstone is stating he was in Company B.
Justice received his disability because he received a saber cut.
