Birth: Aug. 1, 1844, Germany
Death: Feb. 17, 1938
Yamhill County
Oregon, USA

Rosina Barbara Schaad was born August 1, 1844 in Gallenhof, Wurttemberg, Germany and died February 17, 1938 at the home of her oldest son, Gottlieb Schaad, Newberg, Oregon, at the age of 92 years 6 months and 16 days. Her maiden name was Munz. She had ten sisters and no brothers, all of them preceding her in death, she being the only one to attain the age of 92 years. She was born and raised in a Christian home, receiving religious instruction and learning many Bible verses, which were a great blessing to her. She was united in marriage, May 1, 187 with John Jacob Schaad von Oedern Hardt living happily together for 38 years, until he passed away. The Lord blessed them with five sons and one daughter, one of the boys dying in early childhood.
Later all of the children but Carl emigrated to America. In 1912 when the departed mother was 67 years old, her son, August visited Germany and on his return she accompanied him to America, making her home with her children. The last 13 years she made her home with her oldest son, Gottlieb Schaad where she died.
Grandmother Schaad was a hard working woman, and a good Christian mother. In her home in Germany the Methodist people were allowed to have service and prayer-meeting in her home for many years. This was a great blessing for the future of her children. She enjoyed very good health during her life except for the last year. She now went to the better home beyond having the assurance that she is saved through the blood of Christ.
Her only daughter Matilda Bartruff of Eustis, Nebraska preceded her in death 17 years ago. The sons, Gottlieb, William and August made their home near Newberg, and Carl remained in Germany. Besides her sons, she leaves to mourn 32 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren and many friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 p. m. from Hodson's Mortuary and were conducted by Rev. J. C. Mueller assisted by Rev. R. F. Cookingham and Rev. F. H. Luecke. Interment followed at the Friends cemetery.
