John Nelson Tannahill was married on June 6,1867 to Alzada Tucker in Bradford, Iowa. They were the parents of three children, Leonard Madison, Harriet Mable, and Isrilla Eudora. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted on Jan 29, 1864 in Bradford, Iowa and was honorably discharged on Aug. 8, 1865 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of Robert Tannahill and Margaret Nelson.
