Mrs. Mary Schaffler, north Seneca, did not long survive the passing of her husband. Mr. Schaffler passed away on February 15th of this year. Mrs. Schaffler came to the end of earth's journey at 8:20a. m. Friday, June 28th. Death followed an attack of paralysis. She had been critically ill two weeks.

Mrs. Schaffler was a native of New Heede, Germany, where she was born on Nov. 15, 1857. Thus at her death, her age was 77 years, four months and 15 days. Her maiden
name was Mary Wilkens. She came to America in 1881 and for six years was employed in Cincinati. (Ohio) She came to Kansas in 1887 and in the same year, August 16, was
married to Henry Feldkamp. To Mr. and Mrs. Feldkamp, two children were born, Henry Jr. and Fred of Seneca. Henry Feldkamp Sr. passed away two years or so after
their marriage.

On May 16, 1893, the widow was united in marriage to Benedict Schaffler at Sts. Peter and Paul
church in Seneca. There is one daughter, Mrs, Frances Roeder of Seneca. Mrs. Schaffler is also survived by 16 grandchildren and and one brother , Johan Wilkens, who lives in Germany.

After coming to Kansas in 1887,
Mrs. Schaffler’s first home was on the
farm two miles southwest of Seneca.
She had lived in Seneca
for 28 years. 20 years of which
was spent in her late residence.
She was a devout member of Sts.
Peter and Paul church and a
member of St. Ann’s Society.
The funeral service was held at
Sts. Peter and Paul church this
Monday morning with Solemn
Mass by Rev. Father Claude O.S.B.
Active pallbearers were JoeKrapp,
Charlie Bailey, Fred Lueb, Andrew
Henry,Paul Huerter,and L. H. Gaston.

The honorary pallbearers were granddaughters:
Viola Roeder,Carmelita,Cynthia,Adrianna,
Cresentia, and Dorothy Feldkamp.
Mrs. Charles Corning came from Lincoln, Neb. to attend the funeral. Mrs. Corning , a niece of Mr.Schaffler, made her home with the family for 11 years.
