Samuel Warden Sharpe, a resident of the Steele community, died at the Methodist hospital in Memphis Wednesday of pneumonia and was buried at one of the Caruthersville cemeteries yesterday, following funeral services held at the home of a sister, Mrs. Luther Hayes, at Steele at one o'clock yesterday, conducted by the Rev. G.A. Shadwick of this city. The deceased, who was comparatively a young man, is survived by the widow, formerly Miss Ella May Duncan, to whom he married 12 years ago, who was herself ill and unable to attend the funeral, and a family of five children--Gladys, Dorothy, Hazel, Bonnie and James Warden, ranging from 10 years down to 1 years of age. In addition he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mattie Sharpe, three sisters and one brother, these being as follows: Mrs Luther Hayes, Mrs. Chas. Fowler and Mrs. W.P. Hood, all of Steele, and Gordon Sharpe of Blytheville, all of whom were present at the funeral.
Mr. Sharpe had been a member of the Methodist church since 1916 and was reputed to be a good man and a good citizen. Much sympathy is felt for the widow and little children, who are left without a protector and provider under harrowing circumstances.
