Double Funeral for E. C. DeLoach and His Mother

Shocking was the news last Thursday, Sept. 13, of the early morning sudden death of Edward Clifford DeLoach at his home on Roanoke Rt. 4.

A prominent citizen and progressive farmer of the Double Head community, he was 52 years of age.

Originally set for Friday afternoon at three o'clock, funeral plans for Mr. DeLoach were changed when his grief-stricken mother, Mrs. George W. DeLoach, 72, died suddenly at ten o'clock Friday morning (Sept. 14) at her home on Stewart Street in Roanoke.

Joint funeral services for Mrs. DeLoach and her son Clifford were conducted from the First Methodist Church at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon.

Officiating ministers were the Reverends S. M. Penn, Charles T. Ferrell, Earle Trent, and C. C. Turner.

Active pallbearers for Mr. DeLoach were O. L. Royston, Frank Royston, Jake Royston, Mack Hamlin, Parker Moon, and Harold Steely.

For Mrs. DeLoach, pallbearers were O. C. Pearson, H. A. Myhand, M. O. Myhand, W. J. DeLoach, Mitchell DeLoach and Theo DeLoach.

Interment of the mother and her son was in Cedarwood Cemetery, with Quattlebaum's Funeral Home directing.
