Mrs. Boardman was born July 1, 1908, in Starr, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Edna Beck Ehlers. Mrs. Boardman was a 1926 graduate of Kelletville High School and of Clarion State College in 1932. She was a school teacher in Forest and Warren County, from which she retired in after 32 years of service. She was the principal at Washington Grade School in Sheffield for 10-12 years.
Marie was a member of the Eastern Star, Warren Chapter 56 for 50 years, the Sheffield Senior Center, a charter and honorary member of the Progressive Women's Club of Sheffield, former treasurer of the Oriental Band, a former board member of Child Welfare of Warren County, the Starbrick Ladies Lunch Bunch, a former member of the United Fund Drive of Warren, and was active in the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, at both the local and state level.
She was a former member of the Sheffield First United Methodist Church, and was more recently a member of the Youngsville First United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing crafts, traveling, and RV camping.
She is survived by one son, Larry Boardman, Coudersport; two brothers, Harley and John Pierson, Sheffield; a sister, Ardath Petruney, Sheffield; five grandchildren, Sue Betts, Warren, Sharon Ross, Florida, Sean Simonsen, Florida, Leigh Ann Hackner, State College, and Jon Boardman, Coudersport; six great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Boardman, whom she married March 28, 1931, at the Asbury Methodist Church in Bradford, who died September 21, 2003; a daughter, Linda Simonsen Fisher; two sisters, Hazel Ehlers and Doris Danielson; and three brothers, Maurice, Karl, and Harry Pierson,
