First Female Mayor in the United States. She was the daughter of Oliver Kinsey and Terissa Ann White Kinsey and wife of Lewis J. Salter. She was a U.S. politician and activist. In 1887, Susanna Salter was elected mayor of Argonia in Sumner County, Kansas, and served there as the first elected female mayor in the United States.
