Benjamin was born in 1833 and died Feb. 10,1910.He was a member of the 6th Tennessee Infantry, Co. C. He was married to Susan T. Ginn in 1856 in Knoxville, Tennessee. His second wife was Sarah Weaver. Benjamin was reduced in ranks for being at a loud party too near to the headquarters of General Spears. He said he only went there for the corn bread and had not participated in the drinking and rowdy behavior. Considering the fact that these soldiers were ill fed his story is entirely plausible. He suffered from an injury to his right foot, rheumatism, and loss of vision. Thank you if you have taken time to remember him.
