Sarah 'Sally' DiStefano
POTOMAC, Md. - Memorial service for Sarah "Sally" Louise DiStefano, 71, Potomac, Md., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burkhardt Chapel in Frederick Memorial Cemetery with her brother, Weegie Williams, officiating.

Mrs. DiStefano died Saturday, May 16, 2007, in Rockville, Md.

Inurnment will be under direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick.

She was born Oct. 27, 1935, in Frederick, to Bryon E. and Beulah M. Potts Williams. She grew up in Frederick, where she graduated from high school in 1953. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C., and in 1956, she began work as a secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. During her career at the Agriculture Department, she was promoted to program analyst and budget officer in the U.S. Agency for International Development. In 1968, she married Tony DiStefano. They lived in Arlington, Va. for a brief period and then moved to Potomac, Md., where they lived for the rest of their married life. In 1985, shortly after the death of her mother, she became a volunteer shopper for the Red Cross, where she served for 20 years. She retired from the Department of Agriculture in 1990.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Weegie and Opal Williams, Hobart; a sister, Jane Ann Gist, Arlington, Texas; two half-brothers: Myron and Craig Williams, both of Maryland; a half-sister and her husband, Mary and Peter Kirchner, Germany; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Susie Williams Edwards and a brother, Byron Edward Williams.
