Sheboygan Press, Sat. Feb. 27, 1932, p. 2:1. Former Resident of New Holstein Dies Here Friday. John Bruns, 78, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday at his home, 1507 Michigan avenue. He was a former New Holstein resident. Mr. Bruns was born at Ost Friesland, Germany, on Feb. 14, 1854, and came to America in 1882, settling in New Holstein. His marriage with Bertha Hagemann took place on May 16, 1885. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Adolph of New Holstein and Henry of Kiel; four daughters, Mrs. Kurt Weber, Chicago; Mrs. Frank Pasket, Sheboygan; Mrs. Erwin Stiller, Plymouth, and Miss Berth at home; one brother, Louis, of Peoria and one sister, Mrs. Fred Sass of Plymouth. One child preceded him in death. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon. Due to the fact that the new Nickel Funeral Home, Superior avenue at North Twelfth street, is not entirely completed as yet, the funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Monday at the J.H. Nickel residence, 1410 North Thirteenth street, and at 1:20 o'clock at the Ebenezer Reformed church. The Rev. E.H. Oppermann will officiate and interment will be in the New Holstein cemetery. Persons can view the body from Sunday morning at the Nickel residence until the funeral on Monday. It is expected that the new Funeral Home will be completed within two weeks.

The last rites for John Bruns, 78, well known local resident and formerly of New Holstein, who died at his home, 1507 Michigan avenue, Friday evening, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the J.H. Nickel residence, 1410 North Thirteenth street and at 1:20 o'clock at the Ebenezer Reformed church. The Rev. E.H. Oppermann officiated and interment was in the New Holstein cemetery. The pallbearers were Carl, Hugo, Henry and Ed Aggen, Ervin Stiller and Curt Weber. Out-of-town persons at the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bruns, New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Bruns, Kiel; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Stiller and daughter of Plymouth; Mrs. Sass of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Dekker and Mr. and Mrs. Curt Weber of Chicago.

He was married to Helen Beyer May 19, 1882 at New Holstein. Must have been divorced. They had a son, Joseph
