Maren “Mary” Hansen (Christiansen)

Mrs. Maren Hansen was born in Tula Nebla, Denmark, December 3rd, 1841, at Blair, being just 78 years of age. She was married to Truels, June 4th, 1864. In April 1880 they came to America, the “Land of Promise,” to work out their destiny as many of their countrymen were doing. Their destination proved to be Le Mars, Ia., but the following spring they moved to Harlan, Ia., where they resided until 1913, when Fremont became her residence. Deceased came to Blair three years ago and has lived here up to the time of her death. She was the mother of seven children, three of whom died in infancy. A son, Myers Hansen, departed this life July 24, 1910, and a daughter, Mrs. Charles Koepke, February 6th, 1913. Her husband passed away April 10th, 1913. She is survived by one son, Hans Hansen, of Harlan, Ia., and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Morgaard, of Trinity, Texas, Mrs. Chris Hansen, of Harlan, Ia., and Miss Anna Hansen, with who she was making her home at the time of her death. The bereaved family will miss the love and kindness of a devoted mother, and her friends will feel deeply the loss of a splendid friend and neighbor. The Pilot extends condolence to the bereaved family.
