Alfred was the son of Jacob H. HUFFORD and Mary LINK. He and his siblings grew up in Scott County, Kentucky.
He married Martha Alice SOWARD on October 23, 1855, in Georgetown, Scott Co., Kentucky, and he moved his young family to Platte County, Missouri, by 1860.
He and Martha had ten children: Mollie T., Laura Alice, Emma Lee, William Addison, Lizzie V., Luella B., Georgetta, Thomas Marion, Williard B., and Alfred.
