Ira Glenn Vos, born Dec. 29, 1919, in Almyra, Arkansas County, Ark., to Charley Andrew and Ina Bell Rollins Vos, died June 23, 2009. His mother died in 1920 and his aunt and uncle, Blaine and Gertie Vos Glidewell, raised him.
He graduated from Almyra High School in 1937 and went to work for St. Louis Southwestern Railroad in Little Rock. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor he served in the United States Navy. He returned to Arkansas County where he worked until 1985 when he retired.
Glenn was united in marriage to Mildred Orvilla Knoll on Sept. 1, 1940, who preceded him on August 30, 1986. His parents and a brother, Homer Andrew Vos, and stepsister, Florene Glidewell Refeld, also predeceased him.
Mr. Vos is survived by his wife, Clotine Shook Vos; nephews, Gary A. Vos of Katy, Texas, Jimmy Refeld of Almyra; nieces, Janet Vos Amtower of Dallas, Texas, Robin Vos Havard of VanVleck, Texas, Glennda Refeld Fread of Almyra; two stepsons; one stepdaughter, six step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins in Arkansas and Iowa.
