Fred Miller, 83, a longtime Dryden orchardist, died Thursday, July 17, at Central Washington Hospital.
He was born Dec. 7, 1902, in Krem, N.D., where he attended school before moving to Dryden with his parents in 1921. He worked for the Independent Warehouse and married Mollie Miller Dec. 31, 1935 at Ritzville.
They owned and operated a ranch at Dryden from the early 1940s until 1983.
He was a member of the Dryden Community Church, Cashmere Grange and Leavenworth Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mollie of Dryden; two sons, Gordon of Federal Way and Keith of Cashmere; a daughter, Elaine Sutton of East Wenatchee; three brothers, Emil and George, both of Dryden, and Henry of North Dakota; a sister, Rose Boge of Cornelius, Ore.; and five grandsons. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Dryden Community Church with Pastor Donald Bletscher officiating.
Harvey Radach was soloist and Lois Johnson organist. Songs were "Glory For Me" and "How Great Thou Art."
Burial took place in the Cashmere Cemetery with the following pallbearers, George Miller, Sherl Miller, Bob MacPhail, Bob Dixon, Darrell Fischer and Harold Reiman. Honorary bearers were Paul Reister, John Martensen, Fred Johnson and Harvey Hansel.
The Braun Funeral Home of Cashmere was in charge of funeral arrangements.
