Arrived in Brainerd in January 1874.
Mary Connor married Thomas E. Pillon on December 29, 1873 at the Old Cathedral in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota and she arrived in Brainerd via stagecoach in January 1874. She resided in Brainerd for forty years until 1914 when she moved to South Tacoma, Washington. From 1881-1899 she was the proprietor of a small boarding house catering to railroad employees located at 14 North Ninth Street, later 214 North Ninth Street. It was listed in the Brainerd City Directory of 1888 as Mrs. Pillan's [sic] Hotel.
Mrs. Mary Pillon passed away at the home of her son, William Pillon, South Tacoma, Wash., on Tuesday, June 3rd.
The remains are being brought to Brainerd for Burial and will arrive in the city Saturday morning; they will be taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. H. Nelson, 302 North Ninth street. Funeral arrangements have not as yet been made.
Mrs. Pillon was a member of St. Francis Catholic church. She belonged to the United Order of Foresters and to the Catholic Order of Foresters. (Brainerd Daily Dispatch, Brainerd, Minnesota; Thursday, 05 June 1924; p. 7)
