"The auditor of Humboldt County, was born in England and is the oldest son of William and Martha (Jackson) Sharp. the other children were William, Humboldt, Iowa; Elizabeth, now of Santa Clara, California. The Sharp family came to America in 1856.
The subject of this shetch came to Humboldt, Iowa, in 1881 and went into the machinery business, which he carried on successfully for six years. Then, after selling his stock, he became a traveling salesman and continued as such for eight years. Mr. Sharp is now very comfortably situated in Humboldt. He is a member of the Unity Church and the Grand Army of the Republic. He enlisted in the Civil War at Freeport in Company B. 26th Illinois Infantry. By his first wife, Mary E. Symons, he was the father of two children, only one of whom is living, Mary E., who resides in Humboldt. By his second wife Gizette Stevens, he has four children, Ruth, Joela, Selwyn Jackson, and Gratia, all living with their parents."
