Vada Costella Maddox Jarvis, 100, of Houston, Texas, passed away September 27, 2014 in Houston. She was born on May 28, 1914 in Houston County, Texas to parents, James Lawson Maddox and Lydia Barnett Maddox. She was raised in North Zulch, Madison County, Texas. Vada married Ellis B. Jarvis on April 26, 1931 and lived in Houston to raise her 4 children, in her later years she moved to Grimes County and lived with her brother, JW Maddox. Throughout her lifetime, she was primarily raised in the Baptist church and attended Garden Oaks and Carlos Missionary Baptist Church, until 2011, when she entered the Care Center. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her most loved hobbies included sewing, fishing, and working in her garden. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lydia Maddox; husband, Ellis B. Jarvis; son, Travis B. Jarvis; brothers, Truman Maddox and JW Maddox; grandson, Joshua Jarvis; and great-grandson, Vincent J. Miller.
Mrs. Jarvis is survived by her children, Reba J. Wiese, Melba J. Miller, and James E. Jarvis; grandchildren, Ken Wiese, Terry Wiese English, Carol Wiese Holub, Mark Miller, Donna Miller Clark, Michael Miller, Tiffany Jarvis, Christopher Jarvis, Cliff Jarvis, and Shanna Jarvis Clark; great-grandchildren, Jackie Miller, Johnny Miller, Chavon Miller, Matthew Miller, Christopher Miller, Mark Miller Jr., Dana D. Clark, Danielle D. Clark, Emily N. Miller, Phillip M. Miller, Derek Wiese, Drew Wiese, Dillon Wiese, Lauren English, Kristen English, Chelsea Holub, Reece Clark, Riley Clark, Gregory Jarvis, Andrew Jarvis, Jonathan James Short, and Reece Christopher Jarvis; great-great-grandchildren, Corbin Miller, Hannah Miller Morley, Carson Miller, Johnny Miller, and Lea Miller; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
