Mrs. Irene Oden BARGER died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in Woodlawn hospital after an illness of two years. Mrs. Barger, who resided with her husband, Guy, in the Me-Ne-Yah-Tah cottage on Lake Manitou, had been a patient in the hospital since April 19.
Born in Hyattsville, Md., she came to Rochester from Washington, D.C., at the age of four, on the first passenger train to come over the Erie railroad here. Her parents were Benjamin Oden and Virginia HELVIN WEST, her father being the first station agent in Rochester. He came here from Washington for that position.
She was married Jan. 16, 1904, in Rochester to Guy E. BARGER and was a member of the Grace Methodist church.
Surviving, besides the husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Virginia KEEL, Rochester; one son, Oden BARGER, Rochester; and three grandsons. Two brothers, Charles Williams WEST and Hervey Oden WEST, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Zimmerman Brothers fneral home with the Rev. Richard MITCHELL of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here.
In line with a previous request of Mrs. Barger's, the casket will not be opened at the services. However, the body will rest at the funeral home where friends may call after 5:30 p.m. today.
