Raymond Cleveland Bradley, son of the late Cleveland and Phoebe Bradley was born in Powhatan County, VA on April 24, 1924. He was reared in a home with eight (8) sisters and two (2) brothers.
He was converted, baptized and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church of Powhatan at an early age and maintained his membership there throughout his life.
He attended the public schools in Powhatan County.
He later joined the United States Marines and served active duty during World War II.
On February 9, 1947 he was joined in matrimony to Alice Logan of Belona. He was the proud father of six (6) sons and three (3) daughters. Raymond was a loving and devoted father, brother, husband and friend.
He departed this life in the early afternoon of Tuesday, June 22, 1993 at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Alice Logan Bradley of Powhatan, VA; five sons, Raymond Jr. of Richmond, VA, Aaron Slyvester of York, PA, Chico C. of Germany, Wayne Alton (deceased), Robert Martin of Richmond, VA, and Wade Antone of Powhatan, VA; three daughters, Mary Jones of Savannah, GA, Anna Johnson of Powhatan, VA, and Victoria Rudd West of Chesterfield, VA; five (5) daughter-in-laws Brenda Bradley of Richmond, VA, Delores Bradley of York, PA, Melody Bradley of Chesterfield, VA, Venita Dunn of Richmond, VA, and Sharon Dolby of Powhatan, VA; three sons-in-law, Glen Jones of Savannah, GA, Taylor Johnson of Powhatan, VA, and Ronald West of Chesterfield, VA; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Bradley of Powhatan, VA; five sisters, Nancy Jenkins and Maude Mumford of Richmond, VA, Lillian Slayton of Philadelphia, PA, Estelle Miles of Eastport, NY, and Ellen Finney of Mitchellville, MD; one uncle, Edward Bradley of Pittsburgh, PA; one aunt Elizabeth Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; five brothers-in-law, James Miles of Eastport, NY, Essex Finney of Mitchellville, MD, William Harper of Philadelphia, PA, Carl Morris of Powhatan, VA, and Randolph Logan of Riverhead, NY; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and two special friends Michael Ross and Gregory Taliaferro of Powhatan, VA; as well as a community of caring and loving friends.
