Richard Fred "Dick" Humble, 86, former resident of Wann, OK died Monday, June 6, 2011 in Tulsa.

Richard F. Humble was born February 16, 1925, in Elkhart, Kansas to Stella (Wiggins) and Elbert H. Humble. Dick grew up in Cedar Vale, Kansas and graduated high school there. While serving in the Navy, he attended Notre Dame University and later graduated from the University of Kansas School of Architecture.

He married Betty Frost in 1948, and they made their home in the Dewey area, raising four daughters. Dick was a long-time member of the Dewey Church of Christ. He had a long career as an architect with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, and was a talented carver of wooden western figures. In the 1960's, while at Phillips, he was one of the primary designers of the Pier 66 Hotel tower, with revolving restaurant, which is a well-known land mark in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He also designed other buildings for Phillips, including the office building in Borger, Texas, and the transportation center in Bartlesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and daughters Peggy Humble and Rebecca Branstetter. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Davis; a brother, Jim Humble; and infant siblings Luther and Louise Humble.

He is survived by his daughters Cynthia Solomon and Lisa Delafield, his sons-in-law Barry Solomon and Curt Delafield, and his grandsons Brady Whisenhunt, Jeremy Whisenhunt, Zachary Branstetter, and Cameron Delafield, as well as extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Friday in the Dewey Church of Christ with Mr. Tony Lalli and Mr. Robert Hamm officiating. Military graveside rites were conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday in the Cedar Vale, Kansas cemetery. Funeral services and interment were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
