Mardell M. Andersen, 69, of Blair, died Monday, June 15, 2009, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair.
Funeral services were Thursday, June 18 at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment was in the Blair Cemetery.
Mardell Marie McCuen was born July 20, 1939, in Newcastle to Bernard and June (Taylor) McCuen. She graduated from Ponca High School in 1957, and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, for two years.
During her first month at Morningside College she met Don Andersen. The couple married on Sept. 25, 1960, and made their home on a farm west of Blair.
Mrs. Andersen delighted in hosting and entertaining; being able to bring together family and friends was a talent of hers that they all enjoyed. She spoiled her co-workers at D.L. Blair and Mutual of Omaha by bringing in delicious homemade goodies, whether for a birthday or for no reason at all.
She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and seeing beauty in everyday simple pleasures. She was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her most favorite hobby was seeing the grandkids at their events.
She is survived by her husband, Don; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Mariann Andersen of Blair and their children, Brittney, Derek, and Jakob; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Daniel Santos of Blair, and their children Taylor and Mackenzie; sister and brother-in-law, Madonna and Dave Sappenfield of Omaha; and brother Darrell McCuen of Albuquerque, N.M.
