Tracy A. Young, 47, of 76 Washington St., died Tuesday evening in the emergency room at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, after being stricken with an apparent heart attack.
Ms. Young was a substitute teacher at area schools for several years before starting her own nursery school. At the time of her death, she was employed in the cafeteria at Heuvelton Central School.
She volunteered with the Girl Scouts in Heuvelton and was a camp director for a year. She also assisted the fifth- and sixth-grade girls basketball coach for three years.
Ms. Young was a communicant of St. Raphael's parish. She enjoyed knitting, reading, computers and the companionship of her pets.
Born Nov. 7, 1956, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Robert and Phyllis Johnson Young, she graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1975. In 1977, she graduated from Canton Agricultural and Technical College, where she received an associate's degree in liberal arts. She received a bachelor of arts degree in education from Potsdam State University College in 1979.
Surviving besides her parents, of Heuvelton, are two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mimi and Keith Munz, Osceola, and Lisa Young , Heuvelton, four nieces and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Church with the Rev. Chris Fusco officiating. Burial will follow in Ogdensburg Cemetery.
