VERNON H. BALDWIN
Vernon H. Baldwin, 52, reconditioning manager at William H. Eddington, Inc, and who had been identified with the automotive business there for the past 25 years, died suddenly Sunday morning. He was found dead in his automobile on Holden Street.
Dr. William Flood of North Bennington, regional medical examiner, said death was due to a heart attack and Village Police were called to notify his brother, Ray H. Baldwin, who operated a garage and filling station on North Street.
Mr. Baldwin was born in Danby July 31, 1905, son of Mrs. Mattie (Fonda) Baldwin and the late Guy Baldwin. He was educated in Danby and North Bennington schools and was graduated from North Bennington High School. He was a member of Bennington Lodge of Elks and of the Bennington Loyal Order of Moose.
Mr. Baldwin was a skilled auto mechanic and his services were much in demand. He had suffered from a heart ailment for several years. His hobbies had included auto racing and motor boating, where he had spent many enjoyable hours.
Survivors besides his mother and brother are a daughter, Patricia of Clearwater, Fla.; a son, Robert V. Baldwin of Bennington; two other brothers, Edward N. Baldwin of Wilmington, Del., and Albert of Hoosick Falls.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 pm from Mahar Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert F. Spencer, First Baptist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North Bennington cemetery.
