James D. Welsh, 82, Route 2, Riverside Drive, died Friday afternoon at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.
A private funeral and burial will be held Monday at the family's convenience at Foxwood Memorial Park, the Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating.
Mr. Welsh is survived by his wife, Ruth; two sons, a daughter, nine grandchildren; two sisters, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A sister, Margaret, and two brothers, William and John, died before him.
He was born May 30, 1907, in Middlehope, son of Timothy and Charlotte Johnson Welsh . He married Ruth Wallace on June 1, 1934, at St. Patrick's Church, Newburgh. The Welshes lived until 1968 in Newburgh, where Mr. Welsh was an analytical statistician with the DuPont Co. for 41 years.
They lived in Beacon from 1968 to 1971. He later worked for Stauffer Chemical Co. for 2 1/2 years, retiring in 1969. They moved in 1971 to Ogdensburg, where they have since lived.
Mr. Welsh was a communicant of Notre Dame Church.
