Robert R. "Dixie" Walker, 61, of 621 Mansion Ave., died Saturday morning at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the McLellan Funeral Home, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Ralph J. Stanwise officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, seven grandchildren; two sisters, Cand several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Deborah Lynn, two grandchildren, Torrie and Jason Free, two sisters, Bertha Jessmer and Elizabeth Haley, and two brothers, John and William, died before him.
Born March 2, 1932, in Ogdensburg, son of George and Nettie Wicks Walker, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1950 and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He married Beverly J. Paro Jan. 18, 1957, in St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. John J. McCarthy, then rector, officiating.
Mr. Walker worked as a postal clerk in Ogdensburg for 27 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League and St. John's Episcopal church. He was also an avid Ogdensburg Free Academy sports fan and enjoyed bowling.
