She attented the Lorain City Schools. Earlier in her life, she was employed as production riveter at the Lorain Stove Works. Previously she had worked for the former Smith and Gerhart Department Store, as well as for the S.S. Kresge Company.
Irene was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain as well as a member of St. Anthony Marian Guild and the Puduan Travelers. In her free time she enjoyed chrocheting, sewing and baking.
She is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters, Carol Quimper, Kathleen (Thomas) Miller and Barbara (Timothy) Flanagan of Minn.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and sister Ann Buzas of Strongsville.
She was preceded in death by sons Richard in 1964 and Terry in 1969; her father Michael in 1954; her mother Elizabeth (nee Kulik) in 1948; and her sister Betty J. Nemes in 2004.
