Fred J. Thoennes, 57, well known plumber and steamfitter, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at the family home 124 South street, West Lafayette. Death was due to a heart attack.
Mr. Thoennes was proprietor of the Case Plumbing company, with which firm he took employment in 1917; he bought the establishment in 1936 and had operated it since. As a steam-fitter he worked on many school and other buildings in this section of the state and during World War I taught steamfitting at Valparaiso university.
Born in Lafayette, he was married to Georgia Hill in 1912. He was a member of St. Mary's cathedral and of the Catholic Order of Foresters 724. Surviving are the widow; four children, Dorothy, at home, Mrs. John Quinn and Mrs. William Lemond, West Lafayette, and Fred C., Lafayette; four brothers, Charles E., Robert M., Albert R. and Rudolph J. all of Lafayette, and five sisters, Mrs. Catherine Carr, Mrs. Matilda Fischer and Mrs. Lillian Miller, Lafayette, Mrs. Helen Morris, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Anna Shoup, Indianapolis.
