James R. Chase, 66, of 300 County Route 14, Kendrew-Rensselaer Falls Road, died Saturday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, after he was stricken at a hunting camp in South Colton.
Mr. Chase operated a dairy farm. He also was a truck driver for A.J. Missert Inc., Ogdensburg, and, from 1965 to 1986, he was a member of Carpenters Union 278, working various jobs throughout Northern New York.
He was a communicant of St. Raphael's Church, Heuvelton, and a member of the Rainbow Hunting Club, South Colton. He was a former member of Kendrew Grange and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and woodworking.
Born May 8, 1930, in Potsdam, son of Leander and Elizabeth Moutz Chase, he attended Rensselaer Falls schools and graduated from Heuvelton High School.
He married Lois Glidden on May 4, 1951, at St. Raphael's Church. The couple had lived at their present address all their married life.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, four daughters, a sister, a brother, 18 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A prayer service will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael's Church. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
