Gladys S. Turnbull, 89, formerly of Hailesboro and North Syracuse, died Saturday at Iroquois Nursing Home, Jamesville, where she had been a resident since June 1993.
For many years, Mrs. Turnbull was employed at General Electric Co., Syracuse, and was a baker's assistant at Syracuse Bakery for several years.
Born April 24, 1907, in Spragueville, she was a daughter of Howard and Clara Smith Shippee .
She married Leslie C. Turnbull Sept. 19, 1926, in the town of Fowler. The couple operated a dairy farm from 1926 until 1958, when they moved to Syracuse, where they spent the rest of their married lives. They spent winters in Fort Pierce, Fla., for many years. Mr. Turnbull died June 12, 1989.
Surviving are two daughters, a sister, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Five brothers, Elias, Malcolm, Nathan, Carl and Howard Shippee, died before her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
