The funeral for Robert A. Tulip , 69, of 1213 Washington St., will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Douglas A. Lucia officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Tulip died Wednesday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, where he had been admitted earlier that day.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Frary Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and an Elks Club ritual service will be held at 7 p.m.
Mr. Tulip, who taught himself the heating and air conditioning trade, was a millwright and plumber at General Motors, Massena. He had been previously employed at Newell Manufacturing Co., Alcoa, and Ed Breen Plumbing and Heating.
Born March 5, 1932, in Ogdensburg, son of Theodore and Margaret Eldridge Tulip , he was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and a 1950 graduate of George Trade School.
He married Eleanor Casey on May 19, 1951, at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Gilbert J. Faucher officiating. He served in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Tulip was a member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, sailing, cooking and reading.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons and their wives, five daughters and four sons-in-law, 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and Judy Ryan, Ogdensburg, whom he raised.
Five brothers, Theodore, Sydney, Ralph, Jerry and Jack "John"; a sister, Marie Skelly, and two granddaughters died before him.
