The funeral for Katherine C. Tallant, 82, formerly of 302 Cedar St., will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home with the Rev. Benjamin Hamblett, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Tallant died at 4 a.m. Friday in the Veterans Administration Hospital Nursing Unit, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Surviving are two sons, a brother, several grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born Feb. 6, 1911, in Adams, daughter of Frank D. and Fern Cobb Hughes, she attended Adams schools and nursing school in New York City.
She served as a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II as a registered nurse aboard ships in the Italian and African campaigns.
She married Cecil W. Tallant Sept. 28, 1946, in the Adams Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde V. Sparling, then pastor, officiating. After their marriage, the couple lived on Long Island. Mr. Tallant died June 5, 1977.
Mrs. Tallant had resided at 302 Cedar St. in Ogdensburg.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Maple City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Navy Nurse Corps.
