Albert J. Strader, 75, formerly of Congress Street, died Tuesday at United Helpers Nursing Home.

Mr. Strader was a machine operator for Standard Shade Roller for 21 years before his retirement. Previously, he was employed at Brown Dairy, Ogdensburg, and at Gesner-McRoye Dairy, Heuvelton.

Born Nov. 20, 1931, in Ogdensburg, a son of Russell and Eliza Jane Northrup Strader , he served in the Army National Guard from 1949 to 1953.

He married Rita M. Spooner on July 21, 1951, at St. John's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Strader died Dec. 28, 2002.

Mr. Strader was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and the City Prop Busters.

He enjoyed garage sales, antique cars, metal detecting, riding his moped, collecting Civil War memorabilia and watching his grandchildren's sporting events.

Surviving are two daughters, a sister, a half-sister, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Robert J., and two brothers, Russell and Allen Strader, died before him.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Allen-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating.

Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
