Burial for Joseph Stick, 72, of 625 Barre St., a former Carthage optometrist, will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. There will be no funeral.
Mr. Stick died Tuesday afternoon at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Syracuse, where he had been a patient since March 15.
Arrangements are with the Fox Funeral Home.
He is survived by a son, a daughter, two stepdaughters, and three grandchildren.
A brother, John, died before him, and a daughter, Nancy, died in 1981.
Born Oct. 20, 1921, in Kingston, Mich., he was a son of Frank and Elizabeth Stick . He graduated from Holland Park Junior College, Kingston, and earned a bachelor of science degree in 1951 from Columbia University, New York. He also earned a master of science degree from the Columbia University School of Optometry.
Mr. Stick served in the Army during World War II in France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded three purple hearts.
He married Mary Golden in April 1958, in Herkimer. She died March 31, 1983.
Mr. Stick moved from Carthage to Ogdensburg in 1960 and lived at 605 Elizabeth St. In May 1988, he moved to Barre Street.
He was a self-employed optometrist in Massena.
Mr. Stick was a member of the VFW.
