George J. St. Hilaire, 44, of South Road, died Saturday at his home. He had been ill with cancer for the past six years.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Canton First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard F. Stone, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Mausoleum, Canton.
Surviving are his wife, his father, two sons, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, several nieces and nephews and a great-niece.
He was born Feb. 22, 1950, in Malone, a son of Joseph and Rosetta Garner St. Hilaire. He graduated in 1968 from St. Lawrence Central School, Brasher Falls, and from Canton College of Technology in 1970. He also graduated from the University of Georgia, Athens, in 1973, with a degree in environmental science. Mr. St. Hilaire attended graduate programs at Clarkson University and Potsdam State University College.
He married Debra King June 20, 1980, at the home of her parents with the Rev. Calvin Zimmer officiating. They lived in Canton all their married life. He worked as a quality manager at Kraft General Foods, Canton, from 1973 to 1992, when he retired because of poor health.
He was a member of the Canton Presbyterian Church, an associate member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1231, a past member of the Future Farmers of America and the Canton Lions Club, and a member of the St. Lawrence Valley Association of Milk and Food Sanitarians.
