Ruth M. Mashaw St. Denny, 83, of 501 New York Ave., died Thursday evening at home. She had been in failing health since December.
Born in Ogdensburg on June 9, 1913, daughter of John B. and Bertha LaJoie Mashaw, she attended Ogdensburg School No. 6 and St. Mary's Academy.
A marriage to John Garrow in 1934 ended in divorce. She then married Harry M. St. Denny in 1964. He died in 1981.
In 1957, she returned to Ogdensburg from Syracuse, where she had lived for many years. She resided at 619 Champlain St. for 18 years after marrying Mr. St. Denny and moved to New York Avenue six years ago.
She enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing bingo, was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish and attended Notre Dame Church.
Surviving are two daughters, four stepdaughters, four stepsons, and two grandchildren.
A son, John Garrow; four brothers, John Henry Mashaw, Edward "Rip" Mashaw, Emery Charles Mashaw and Lawrence "Lornie" Mashaw; a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter died before her.
A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Fox Funeral Home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
