Songwriter. Born in Romania, he immigrated to America and began his career writing songs for vaudeville acts and lyrics for the Ziegfeld Follies. During the 1930s and 1940s, he wrote theme songs for feature films to include "Falling in Love Again," "I'm Popeye the Sailor Man," ''Is It True What They Say About Dixie'' and the theme for Betty Boop cartoons. He died of cancer in Los Angeles, California.
