Gene R. Simmons, 60, of 729 Conger St., died Saturday evening at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Foxwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Benjamin Hamblett, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Rodney, Ogdensburg; a daughter, a sister, a brother, and four grandchildren.
Three brothers, Gary, Robert and Isaac, died before him.
Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Ogdensburg, son of Robert and Harriet Bailey Simmons , he was a Korean War veteran of the Army and Marine Corps.
He married Lillian M. Bogart on Sept. 15, 1962, in First Baptist Church. The couple lived most of their married life in Ogdensburg, where Mr. Simmons was a heavy equipment operator, construction worker and tractor trailer driver. He retired in 1990 due to failing health.
Mr. Simmons was a member and executive board director of Teamsters Union Local 687. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
