Charles W. Sawyer, 74, of 923 Hasbrouck St., died early Wednesday at the home of his son in Reisterstown, Md.
Mr. Sawyer was employed by Pipefitters Union Local 73, Oswego, until retiring in 1991.
Born June 17, 1933, in Watertown, son of Moses and Jane Warren Sawyer , he graduated from Brownville-Glen Park Central School.
He enlisted in the Army on July 14, 1950, and served in Korea. He later served in the Navy and then the Marine Corps until 1957.
He married Maria Ann Crupi on Sept. 10, 1955, at the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Watertown.
Mr. Sawyer was a member of Ogdensburg Elks Lodge and enjoyed vacationing in St. Petersburg, Fla., camping, fishing, baseball and coaching hockey.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and two daughters-in-law, a daughter and her husband, two former daughters-in-law, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, a brother, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral with the Rev. Terry R. LaValley officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
