Ilah E. Finchum
Ilah E. Finchum, 86, of Appleway Drive, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Finchum retired from the former Bruning's Specialty Shop and was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and had been a youth group leader. She was a Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary volunteer and also had worked with Girl Scouts of America.
A former resident of Martinsville, she moved to Columbus 48 years ago.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Vernon Jewell-Nick Rittman Funeral Home with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Deacons Fund.
Mrs. Finchum was born in Morgan County May 11, 1914, the daughter of Omer T. and Ella Holmes Goss. She married Eugene F. Finchum April 25, 1934. He died Jan. 17, 2000.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Larrison of Newburgh; a sister, Malva Foster of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Laura Lynn Larrison and John Eugene Finchum; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Myron Eugene Finchum; brothers, Daniel G. and James Eugene Goss; and sisters, Neva Brock, Margaret Green and Lela Brummett.
