|Birth: ||Sep. 23, 1946|
|Death: ||Sep. 29, 2004|
Born in Aurora, Illinois to Wilbur J. Kuhman and E. Louise Kuechler-Kuhman. He was the 2nd son, 3rd child, of 4 children. Grew up in Yorkville, Illinois. Attended Yorkville Grade School and Junior High. He was always one who excelled at sports - an "All-Stater" in Illinois High School Basketball. Completed High School in Yorkville, Illinois, and went on to complete a BS degree in Anthropology and Psychology at the University of Illinois, Dekalb. He was drafted into US Military service during Vietnam War (basic training: Fort Lewis, WA). Was discharged as a C.O. (Conscientious Objector) - one of less than 100 in US History to do so once having already been inducted. He was then required to provide alternative service, and did so in New Mexico where he was employed as a surgical assistant. After the birth of a daughter (born 1975), he and his wife moved back to Wisconsin, where they resided temporarily in the home of Louise E. Kuhman (his mother). They purchased a tract of farmland in Price County, WI, then another (East of Prentice, by Lound Road, off US Hwy 8) to which more acres were added as time went by. The couple lived many years in Prentice, Wisconsin and made many friends. Gary was an outdoorsman - an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved wild places. Together, he and his wife tore-down an old barn and built a new home on the granite foundations. They raised a family of two children - a son was born in 1977. Gary was a self-taught, part-time carpenter. He was ultimately employed full-time by the Marquip company of Wisconsin, and was sent all over the world to effect the installations of paper (and cardboard) handling machines. His wife, "Mikie" taught foreign language in the local schools, retiring after Garold's demise. Death (came suddenly and was unexpected) cause unknown (probably a heart attack or an aneurism). He died in his sleep. Passed away while working to complete his retirement home in northern Wisconsin, facing Lake Namekagon, near Cable. As per his wishes, his body was cremated and the ashes dispersed in the wilderness of north woods locales known only to his immediate family.
